Elcometer 456 for separate iron and non-ferrous probes, model B
A simple and intuitive to use gauge for quick and precise measurement of coatings on metal substrates.
- For separate probes for measuring non-magnetic coatings on magnetic metal (F) and non-conductive coatings on non-magnetic metal (NF).
- The separate F, NF or FNF probes must be ordered separately!
- Sampling rate of more than 70 measurements per minute.
- Rotatable, large, high-contrast 2.4" (6cm) TFT colour display.
- Robust, shock-resistant and dust-tight casing.
- User-friendly menu in over 25 selectable languages with graphical display of important functions (e.g. calibration).
- Several calibration methods can be selected (smooth, rough, etc.).
- Statistics functions.
- Integrated emergency light.
- Further features and properties such as technical data, see data sheet.
Elcometer 456 Coating Thickness Gauge with Separate Probe
The Elcometer 456 Coating Thickness Gauge is available with a wide range of interchangeable probes, offering greater flexibility when measuring the thickness of coatings on metallic substrates.
Advantages
- Measurements of coatings up to 31mm (1.220mil) thick on metal substrates
- Easy-to-read, customisable display with automatic brightness control
- Ergonomic design, ideal for continuous use
- Dust and water protected to IP64
- Temperature-stable layer thickness measurements
Fast
It helps you work more efficiently 70+ readings per minute and 140+ per minute with scan probe, multiple calibration memory and alphanumeric batch identification.
Accurate
Accurate measurements on smooth, rough, thin and curved surfaces Measures on smooth, rough, thin and curved surfaces with an accuracy of ±1% according to national and international standards.
Simple
large buttons and colour LCD screen with automatic image rotation; factory-calibrated with upper and lower limit indicators; multilingual.
Reliable
Robust design: durable, impact resistant and with fully traceable test certificates and our 2-year gauge warranty.Elcometer 456 gauges are protected against manufacturing defects by a one-year warranty. The warranty can be extended to two years free of charge at www.elcometer.com within 60 days of the date of purchase.
High-performance
Stores up to 150,000 readings in 2,500 batches. Measures coatings up to 31mm (1.220mils) thick on metal substrates and outputs data via USB and Bluetooth® to ElcoMaster®.
Using the Scan Probe in Scan Mode
Using the Elcometer 456 in scan mode can significantly reduce inspection time when measuring dry film thickness without affecting the accuracy:
- Drag the scanning probe across the entire surface to be measured. When the probe is lifted from the surface, the gauge displays the average, maximum and minimum coating thickness.
- Each set of three readings (average, maximum and minimum) can be displayed on the historical graph and stored in memory.
- During each scan, the Elcometer 456 displays the live thickness reading along with an analogue bar graph showing the thickness relative to both the nominal thickness and user-defined limits (if set).
Using the scanning probe in repeat mode
When the ultrasonic probe is dragged across the coated surface in Repeat Auto* mode, a reading is taken approximately every half a second. Each individual reading is stored in the memory.
With a data logging rate of more than 140 readings per minute, the repeat function can significantly speed up dry film inspection of large coated areas.
