Angle grinders & cut-off tools – match tool and disc to the processing task
Angle grinders and cut-off tools are used with approved accessories for different removal and cutting tasks. Compact angle tools for detailed areas must be distinguished from larger machines using other disc diameters. Select machine, guard and disc as a compatible combination. Material suitability, mounting and permissible rotational speed must clearly match before every use.
Grinding and cutting are different applications
A cutting disc is designed for the intended cut and must not be misused for side surface grinding. Grinding tasks require appropriately approved grinding tools. Also check whether the existing guard suits the application. Being able to mount a disc does not mean its use is permitted.
Match mounting, diameter and rotational speed
Check the machine's permitted dimensions and mounting system. The disc approval must match the maximum possible speed in the intended operation. Improvised adapters or oversized discs are no solution to an incompatible combination. Observe the mounting and inspection requirements for the accessory concerned.
Use compact designs for appropriate tasks
Small angle tools can make confined areas easier to work, but require suitable mini discs, pads or quick-change systems. They do not automatically replace a machine for larger cutting tasks. The required access, power and manufacturer's intended applications are decisive. Batteries and chargers must also match the relevant platform.
Control the working environment and particles
Secure the workpiece and consider sparks, possible kickback risks and suitable protective measures according to the operating instructions. Remove combustible materials from the hazard area. Hot particles or sparks must not be extracted without suitable, explicitly approved equipment. Inspect accessories for damage and stop using suspect discs.

May I grind sideways with a cutting disc?
No. Cutting discs must not be misused for side grinding. Use the grinding tool approved for the task and the correct protective equipment.
Does every disc with the same bore fit?
No. Diameter, design, speed approval, material suitability and guard must also match. Follow the machine and accessory instructions.
Can a normal workshop vacuum collect sparks?
Not without explicit suitability for this application. Hot particles can be dangerous, particularly together with combustible dust. The extraction solution must be checked separately.
