Microfibre cloths help remove suitable polishing and cleaning residues and inspect processed surfaces. Structure, condition and suitability for the particular use are decisive. A soft cloth alone does not guarantee scratch-free work: collected particles and unsuitable use can damage sensitive surfaces. Separate cloths by task and keep clean replacements ready.
Pile, material construction and edge design influence handling. Choose a cloth suitable for the substrate and residue removal required. Polish residues, general cleaning and sensitive final inspection may impose different demands. Also check compatibility with the cleaning product used. A cloth for rough workshop cleaning should not be used unchanged for a sensitive high-gloss finish.
Fold the cloth to create several usable sides and switch to a clean area when visibly contaminated. Do not rub loose abrasive particles unnecessarily over the substrate. When saturated or heavily soiled, changing the cloth is more sensible than increasing pressure. Required preliminary cleaning depends on surface condition.
Dedicated allocation for compound removal, finish inspection and general cleaning facilitates clean workflows. Colours can serve as internal identification but have no universal technical meaning. Store clean cloths separately from used cloths, abrasives and dusty tools. This keeps the intended use clear within the team.
Observe the stated washing and drying conditions. Detergents, fabric softeners or high heat may be unsuitable depending on the textile; product care instructions govern. After cleaning, check for remaining hard residues or damage. Cloths no longer suitable for sensitive surfaces should be removed from that use or labelled differently.

Without explicit system labelling, no fixed technical property. Colours are nevertheless helpful for clearly separating workshop tasks.
The care label or manufacturer's specification determines this. One uniform washing temperature for all microfibre cloths would be unreliable.
