Mirka: electric polishing machines
Overview of electric polishers and their technical versions.

Polishing machines move the polishing pad across the surface and thus determine an important part of working behaviour. Rotary and orbital models emphasise different aspects; compact versions reach small areas. Selection depends on substrate, component shape, motion type and a suitable pad-and-polish system. Also consider handling over longer work intervals and available power supply.
Rotary machines turn the tool around its axis; orbital polishers combine this with eccentric motion, driven differently according to design. This creates different guidance and application requirements. No design alone guarantees a flawless finish. Follow recommendations for machine, polish and substrate, and inspect the result regularly.
Large flat surfaces and narrow contours require different working diameters. Use only pads and backing plates approved for the specific model. A smaller plate is not automatically permitted simply because its thread fits. Also check the prescribed pad overhang and secure attachment, especially near sensitive edges.
Match the operating range to the intended combination. Long dwell times, unsuitable pressure or dirty pads can impair processing and generate heat. Work edges, recesses and sensitive materials with particular control. Stop if anything unusual occurs and check the cause instead of simply continuing at a higher setting.
Mains and cordless machines require different power and charging planning. Keep suitable pads for individual stages separate, and replace contaminated pads according to application guidance. Clean the machine only as instructed. Before changing the backing plate or maintaining the machine, disconnect power in the prescribed manner.

Learn moreNo. Substrate, pad, polish and guidance interact here too. Improper processing can cause damage, particularly at edges or on thin coatings.
Not automatically. Check approval for the motion type and recommended pad combination and processing. A suitable machine alone does not create a universal polishing system.
Choose a working diameter approved for the model that suits the geometry. A small pad still needs safe guidance and a suitable backing plate.
