Hoses, adapters & connections – choose technical connections unambiguously
Hoses, adapters and connections link machines to their supply or other system components. Distinguish compressed-air, extraction and other connections clearly. Similar diameters mean neither equal load capacity nor identical function. Select by medium, conditions, both mating connections and explicit suitability for the machine.
Clarify medium and operation first
An extraction hose works differently from a compressed-air line. Observe medium, permitted pressure or vacuum and other manufacturer limits for every connection. Do not use parts for other media simply because they fit mechanically. Even combined routing must keep individual functions clearly assigned.
Match threads and coupling profiles precisely
Record both ends, including internal or external thread, size and system designation. Different thread types or coupling profiles cannot reliably be forced to fit. Required sealing also depends on construction. Check whether an adapter changes geometry alone or must perform another function.
Supply cross-section and freedom of movement
For pneumatic tools, the entire supply must suit required airflow. Undersized or unsuitable connectors can impair operation. Route hoses without sharp kinks or constant pulling on connections. Consider machine movement radius and safe workplace routes.
Inspect connections and service them disconnected
Check hoses, cuffs and couplings for wear, cracks and safe function. Disconnect power or pressure as instructed before changing parts. No, not without explicit approval. Medium, pressure loading and construction differ. Use only lines suitable for each function.
What information is needed for a coupling?
Medium, conditions, exact coupling profile and connection design on both ends. A single inch or millimetre dimension often is insufficient.
Does every threaded adapter seal the same way?
No. Sealing principle and permitted installation depend on construction. Follow manufacturer information instead of a general sealing method.
