Extraction hoses & adapters – compatible connections between tool and extractor

Extraction hoses and adapters connect the dust capture point to the extractor. Both connection ends, hose design and chosen length must suit the application for the arrangement to work. Do not rely on a single millimetre dimension: insertion direction, connection geometry and locking can differ. A properly matched connection simplifies handling and avoids unnecessary leaks.

Identify both connection ends clearly

Record the manufacturer and model of machine and extractor. Check internal or external diameters and the shape, thread or lock of the connectors. A nominal hose size does not automatically describe all connection dimensions. Use intended adapters and avoid improvised connections that could loosen as the machine moves.

Balance length and freedom of movement

The hose should reach the working surface without strongly pulling the machine back or obstructing the work unnecessarily. Avoid tight bends, kinks and unnecessary extensions. Check routing in the actual work area, including table edges and ceiling work. Protective sleeves or combined routing systems must be compatible with the existing system.

Antistatic design as a system feature

Where an antistatic design is required, the entire intended connection path must be built accordingly. A single hose cannot replace all the other components. Check adapters, connections and equipment approval together. Antistatic does not automatically mean suitable for potentially explosive areas or extraction of hot or spark-carrying particles.

Identify wear and blockages

Cracks, porous areas and damaged cuffs can impair operation. Also check hidden kinks and deposits inside the hose. Clean or replace parts according to the instructions. When extraction weakens, inspect hoses and connections as well as filters and bags; a new adapter does not clear a blockage elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions: extraction hoses & adapters

Is the diameter enough to order an adapter?

No. You need both connection ends and their geometry or system designation. Model details and an unambiguous manufacturer's article number help identify the correct part.

Are extraction hoses also suitable for compressed air?

Not automatically. Vacuum and compressed-air lines meet different requirements. Use a hose only for the expressly approved media and operating conditions.

Can I use any number of extensions?

No. Extra length and connection points change the arrangement. Follow the system requirements and check sufficient dust capture at the tool.
