Automation components add control, change and installation-workflow functions to sanding and polishing heads. Selection starts with a clear task: changing a tool, renewing consumables or communicating process status? Suitability follows from the complete architecture. One module does not replace full integration or process approval.
Distinguish tool changes from abrasive changes
A tool changer swaps the head or intended tool unit. An abrasive changer renews consumables on the appropriate tool. These need different components and sequences. Check the actual function and associated tools, stations and connection modules.
Check mechanics and media transfer together
A change module needs matching attachment, secure locking and intended mounting geometry. Energy and signal connections may also matter. Compare actual functions with the application rather than assuming universal media transfer. Storage positions and space affect planning too.
Define control sequence and status signals
The installation must recognise intended states and respond to deviations. Check signals, interfaces and approvals in product documentation. Not every status indication is a safety-related signal. Plan and test integration into robot and installation controls specifically.
Consider access and wear
Stations and modules need operating, cleaning and maintenance space. Dust, polish residues and worn contacts may affect operation. Define inspections and maintenance by manufacturer requirements. After changes, recheck the affected complete process.
