Düseneinstellungen beim Pulverbeschichten: Optimierung für perfekte Ergebnisse

Nozzle settings for powder coating: optimisation for perfect results

Choosing the right nozzle and setting the application parameters correctly are crucial for achieving an even, adhesive and economical powder coating. Even small deviations can quickly lead to quality problems such as orange peel, overcoating or colour shadows.

Important factors influencing nozzle settings

  • Type of nozzle: Choose flat spray, round spray or special nozzles depending on the component geometry.
  • Spray angle and distance: Ideally, maintain a 90° angle to the workpiece and a uniform distance of approx. 20–25 cm.
  • Conveying air and powder quantity: Do not apply too much powder at once – too high a powder flow leads to defects and uneven layer formation.
  • High voltage setting: The electrostatic charge must be adjusted to the powder and the geometry to ensure good adhesion and even application.

Typical errors caused by incorrect nozzle settings

  • Orange peel due to excessive powder application or too great a distance
  • Overcoating and drift due to excessive conveying air
  • Insufficient edge coverage due to incorrect spray pattern or spray angle

Recommended solutions

  • Nozzle selection according to component: Coat compact surfaces with flat spray nozzles, profiles and pipes with round spray nozzles.
  • Check and adjust parameters: regularly adjust spray distance, powder quantity and high voltage to the requirements.
  • Perform test coatings: Check coating results and optimise settings before starting new series production.

Conclusion

With the right nozzle setting, you can ensure optimum coating results, reduce material consumption and minimise rework. Regular checking and adjustment of the parameters quickly pays off in better quality and higher efficiency.
