The Sundström SR 500 powered air-purifying respirator system is a high-performance, battery-powered unit designed for use with particle and combination filters and has been developed for professional use in demanding working environments. The SR 500 and SR 500 HD models provide a reliable supply of breathing air with high flexibility, long operating time and comfortable use in combination with various headpieces.
System & Application
The SR 500 is a battery-powered blower unit and, in combination with filters and an approved headpiece, forms a component of the blower-assisted respiratory protection system. The filtered air is supplied to the headpiece via a breathing hose. The resulting positive pressure prevents the ingress of contaminants from the environment.
The system is suitable as an alternative to filter protection in all situations where such protection is recommended, particularly during heavy, hot or prolonged work. Depending on the model, headpieces can include hoods, face shields, half masks, full-face masks, welding visors and helmets with visors .
Operation is via a single control button for start, stop and selection of operating mode. The device features a display with symbols, automatic airflow control and integrated air pressure and temperature compensation. The electronic enclosure is approved to IP67 in accordance with IEC / EN 60529.
The SR 500 HD version is used with the SR 502 HD 3.6 Ah battery and is designed for longer operating times. The SR 500 is also available in an explosion-proof version as the SR 500 EX.
