Elcometer dual element transducers are designed for ultrasonic material thickness measurement when only one side of the material to be tested is accessible.
Dual element transducers
Dual element material thickness gauges are ideal for inspecting metal substrates, but can also measure other materials such as plastics, composites or fibreglass.
Frequency and diameter discs
Measuring heads can be selected according to the frequency and size of the crystal. The frequency of a measuring head is determined by the type of material and the intended thickness range. The choice of crystal size depends on the accessibility, shape and surface characteristics of the object to be measured. Each measuring head can be easily identified by the disc at the top.
Explanation of the two-element probe characteristics
When using the Echo-Echo ThruPaint™ (E-E) measurement mode, high damped dual element coating thickness transducers, designated HD/CT, are required. Highly damped CT coating thickness gauges also enable simultaneous coating and material thickness measurement in conjunction with selected gauge models.
Special measuring heads are available for thickness measurement on high-temperature surfaces.
