All Elcometer 456 probes are fully interchangeable to meet your specific needs and are available in a range of designs and scale ranges.
Ferrous (F)
- Iron gauges are used to measure non-magnetic coatings on iron-magnetic substrates.
- Elcometer 456 iron gauges are compatible with any iron probe.
Non-ferrous metal probes (N)
- Non-ferrous probes measure non-conductive coatings on non-ferrous substrates.
- Elcometer 456 Non-Ferrous gauges are compatible with any non-ferrous probe.
FNF Combination Probes
- FNF combination probes measure both ferrous and non-ferrous metals with automatic substrate recognition.
- The Elcometer 456 FNF gauges are compatible with all ferrous, non-ferrous and FNF combination probes.
High Temperature
- Elcometer probes have a maximum operating temperature of 80°C (176°F)*.
- Separate Elcometer ferrous probes have a maximum operating temperature of 150°C (300°F)*.
- High Temperature PINIP™ have a maximum operating temperature of 250°C (480°F)*.
* The temperature given is the substrate temperature and the time of use of the probe must be reduced to ensure a minimum temperature rise in the probe.
Ferrous probes measure non-magnetic coatings on ferrous substrates. The Elcometer 456 Ferrous gauges are compatible with any ferrous probe.
Non-ferrous probes measure non-conductive coatings on non-ferrous substrates. Elcometer 456 non-ferrous gauges are compatible with any non-ferrous probe.
FNF combination probes measure both ferrous and non-ferrous metals with automatic background detection. Elcometer 456 FNF gauges are compatible with all ferrous, non-ferrous and FNF combination probes.
