Using the scan probe in scan mode
Using the Elcometer 456 in scan mode can significantly reduce inspection times for dry film measurement without compromising accuracy:
- Drag the scan probe over the entire surface to be measured. When the probe is lifted from the surface, the gauge displays the average, maximum and minimum coating thickness.
- Each set of three readings (average, maximum and minimum) can be displayed on the history graph and stored in memory.
- During each scan, the Elcometer 456 displays the current thickness reading along with an analogue bar graph showing the thickness in relation to both the target thickness and any user-defined limits.
Using the scanning probe in automatic repeat mode
When the ultrasonic probe is dragged over the coated surface in automatic repeat mode*, a measured value is recorded approximately every half second. Each individual measured value is stored in the memory.
With a measurement acquisition rate of more than 140 readings per minute, the automatic repeat mode can significantly speed up the dry film inspection of large coated surfaces.
