How to use a salt contamination meter

  1. Fill the syringe with 1.6 ml of high-purity water.
Note: Impure water (up to 2 µg/cm²) can be automatically compensated by the meter.
  2. Dispense the 1.6 ml onto a clean, unused sample paper, ensuring all of the water remains on the paper.
  3. Place the moistened paper onto the area to be tested and press firmly into contours and irregularities to remove trapped air.
Tip: Start the timer on the gauge. While you wait for the sample time to elapse, you can prepare additional tests.
  4. After 2 minutes, remove the paper from the surface and place it on the gold-plated electrodes.
  5. Close the lid, ensuring the magnetic catch is fully engaged.
The reading is displayed automatically and stored in memory along with paper size, temperature, date and time.
  6. For small-area tests, half- or quarter-size papers can be used. The paper size is automatically recognized by the Elcometer 130 and the reading is calculated automatically.
