Airless Spray Guns – High-Pressure Technology for Professional Applications

Airless spray guns stand for maximum efficiency, high coverage, and uniform coating. In the Airless spray process, the material is delivered by a piston or diaphragm pump under pressure (up to 250 bar) to the nozzle and finely atomized – completely without air. The result: a uniform surface with excellent coverage and reduced material consumption. Ideal for corrosion protection, facade paints, primers, fillers, and 2K coatings.

How does the Airless spray process work?

Unlike Airspray systems, the Airless process does not use an air stream for atomization. A high-pressure pump pushes the paint directly through the nozzle, where it is finely distributed. This allows high layer thicknesses to be applied in a single pass – with a perfect, uniform structure. Airless technology is particularly efficient for large surfaces and viscous materials.

Advantages of Airless Spray Guns

  • High coverage: Up to 4 times faster than conventional HVLP or RP systems.
  • Optimal surface quality: Uniform layer thicknesses without streaks.
  • Time-saving & economical: Apply large amounts of material in a short time.
  • Robust technology: Ideal for continuous use in industry, timber construction, corrosion protection, and facade work.

Typical Materials for Airless Guns

  • Water- & solvent-based 1K and 2K paints
  • Primers and fillers
  • Dispersion and latex paints (interior & exterior)
  • Corrosion protection coatings and Airless fillers

Nozzle Sizes & Pressure Settings

  • Wall paints / dispersion: 0.017"–0.023" (approx. 1.7–2.3 mm)
  • Primers & corrosion protection: 0.019"–0.027"
  • Paints & stains: 0.011"–0.015"

The optimal pressure is between 120–220 bar, depending on material viscosity and nozzle size. A properly matched system of pump, gun and nozzle ensures consistently perfect results.

Maintenance & Cleaning

After each use, Airless guns should be thoroughly flushed to avoid buildup. Use suitable cleaning fluids and filters to extend the lifespan of your pump and nozzle. In our accessories section you will find everything for nozzles, hoses, filters, guns & seals.

Frequently Asked Questions About Airless Spraying Equipment

What is an Airless paint sprayer and how does it work?

An Airless sprayer operates without additional compressed air. The paint is finely atomized by high pressure (up to 250 bar) and sprayed directly onto the surface. This creates an even, opaque coating – ideal for large areas and high-viscosity materials such as dispersion paints, corrosion protection or primers.

When is it worth using an Airless system?

Airless systems are optimal for large areas, facades, metal structures or wooden components. They enable fast coating with high material throughput and a uniform result. Especially for paints, dispersions and fillers, you save time and material compared to conventional HVLP or RP systems.

Which nozzle size is suitable for Airless painting?

The correct nozzle size depends on the material: for paints and stains 0.011"–0.015", for dispersion paints 0.017"–0.021", and for thick fillers 0.023"–0.031". Always observe the manufacturer’s instructions and the recommended viscosity of the paint.

What spray pressure is ideal for Airless spraying?

Depending on the material, the optimal working pressure is between 120 and 200 bar. Too little pressure leads to an uneven spray pattern (“runs”), while too much pressure causes excessive overspray. The right pressure results in a uniform spray pattern without mist or drips.
