Product description
Elcometer 139 Amine Blush Swab Screen Kit, 20 tests: Detects amine blush based on the presence of carbamate compounds rather than physical phenomena such as pH. Amines that have migrated to the coating surface can react with CO2 to form carbamates.
This can be observed as an oily film on the surface, but is often invisible to the eye. The presence of amine rouge can lead to intercoat adhesion failures if another coat is applied without removing amine rouge first. When deciding whether an amine-cured epoxy coating can be overcoated, it is essential to determine whether the coating exhibits the amine blush phenomenon.
How to use an Amine Blush Swab Test Kit - Below is a brief overview of the test. Step-by-step instructions and instructions for creating a control sample can be found in the product manual.

Test Part A (green)

9. incubate (rest) the sample for 30 minutes at room temperature avoiding direct sunlight.
10. remove the cotton swab and dispose of it in an environmentally friendly manner.
11.visually compare the results with the control sample within 10 minutes of completing the test: Amine red is present when a detectably lower intensity of yellow colour is observed in the test sample compared to the control sample. The control sample is valid for colour comparison for 24 hours from the time of preparation.
