The salt & dust contamination kits combine all relevant test instruments for the assessment of surface cleanliness before coating. They contain equipment for the Bresle test according to ISO 8502-6/-9, instruments to determine conductivity and chloride ions, reference cards for dust grade in accordance with ISO 8502-3 as well as instruments for measuring climate, dew point (ΔT) and surface temperature. All components are calibrable, suitable for mobile use and meet the requirements of international standards.
These kits are used in blasting shops, in shipyards, in steel and plant engineering, for tank and vessel coatings as well as in renovation and maintenance. They enable early detection of soluble salts and reliable evaluation of the dust grade prior to application. At the same time, they monitor climate and temperature conditions to ensure surfaces suitable for coating. The result: minimized rework, consistent quality and audit-proof evidence for coating processes.
Salt testing (ISO 8502-6 / -9): Performing the Bresle test with patches and syringes to determine conductivity and ion content on the surface. Optionally, the analysis can be supplemented by chloride test strips or titration methods to determine specific ion concentrations.
Dust grade (ISO 8502-3): Assessment of dust contamination using standardized comparison plates and supplementary photo documentation. This test enables an objective evaluation of surface cleanliness and is crucial for optimum coating adhesion.
Climate & dew point (ISO 8502-4): Determination of ΔT, relative humidity, air and surface temperature to assess the risk of condensation before coating. The measured values are used to ensure releases in line with climatic criteria.
Documentation: Provision of sample vials, calibration solutions and QR/label sets for unambiguous sample identification. All measured values are recorded digitally, converted automatically and exported as a valid test report (PDF/CSV) – including serial number and user assignment for complete traceability.
The range includes standard and project-specific kits with data loggers, app/cloud connectivity and optional interfaces to QA software. Together with the user, we define the scope of testing, the relevant standards and the measurement point plan and integrate the systems into QA workflows, photo and report storage as well as audit processes. This ensures that all results are traceable, standardized and documented in an audit-ready way.

Learn moreTypically Bresle patches and syringes (ISO 8502-6/-9), a conductivity meter or ion tester, chloride test strips or a titration set, dust grade plates according to ISO 8502-3, climate/dew point measurement (ΔT, ISO 8502-4), a surface thermometer, sample vials, calibration solutions/standards, labels/QR codes and report templates.
Selection is based on specifications/threshold values (e.g. μS/cm or mg/m² Cl−), applicable standards (ISO 8502-6/-9, ISO 8502-3, optionally ASTM D4940 for abrasives), the application environment (shipyard, bridge, tank), documentation requirements (app/cloud, PDF/CSV), ΔT/temperature monitoring as well as robustness/ATEX conditions. Traceable calibration certificates are important.
A defined sampling and measurement point plan, blank/reference samples, ΔT release, documented dust grade, complete photo/label assignment (QR), digital reports with unit conversion (μS/cm ↔ mg/m² Cl−) as well as regular test equipment monitoring and user training – for audit-proof, reproducible results.
We configure standard and custom kits including calibration, a measurement point/sample plan and documentation – for Bresle, conductivity/chloride, dust grade as well as ΔT & temperature. The outcome: audit-proof evidence, surfaces ready for coating and minimal rework.
