SATAjet 5000 B: Complete Setup & Commissioning
This guide takes you step by step through the complete commissioning of the SATAjet 5000 B (RP/HVLP). From initial assembly to the first spray test – all information is based on the operating manual and should be considered as reference values.
Prerequisite Check: What You Need
- 1/4" external thread or SATA connector nipple
- Min. 9 mm inner diameter hose
- Clean compressed air (e.g. SATA filter 484)
- Sufficient air volume (see technical data)
- Supplied tool kit
- Original SATA combination tool
- Universal nozzle wrench
- Suitable cleaning fluid
Note: Only use solvent-resistant, antistatic hoses with at least 10 bar continuous strength.
Step-by-Step Commissioning
Check all screws for tightness. Tighten paint nozzle hand-tight (14 Nm). Check the locking screw for secure fit and tighten if necessary.
Flush the paint channel with suitable cleaning fluid. Observe Chapter 8 of the operating manual.
Correctly align vertical and horizontal spray pattern. This is crucial for uniform atomization.
Install paint strainer and gravity cup. Fill gravity cup up to max. 20 mm below the top edge, close with lid and insert drip stop.
Screw connector nipple onto the air inlet. Provide compressed air supply with sufficient volume and pressure.
Pressure Adjustment: 4 Methods Compared
| Method | Accuracy | Accessories | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| SATA adam 2 | Exact | Digital pressure gauge | Recommended method |
| Manometer with regulation | Good | Separate manometer | Accessories required |
| Manometer without regulation | Medium | Separate manometer | Accessories required |
| Compressed air line measurement | Inaccurate | No accessories | Emergency solution only |
Note: The air micrometer must be fully opened in all methods. Excessive pressure results in high trigger pull forces.
First Spray Tests: What to Consider?
- Adjust material flow: With fully open material control, wear is minimal.
- Check spray pattern: Set round and fan spray to factory setting.
- Maintain spray distance: According to Chapter 2 of the operating manual (approx. 10–15 cm).
- Fully pull trigger: Spray only with complete trigger pull.
- Move evenly: Constant speed and overlap for uniform coverage.
Safety Checklist Before First Use
- Wear respiratory and eye protection as well as protective gloves
- Use hearing protection if sound level > 85 dB(A)
- Only use intended spray media
- Never aim at living beings
- Immediately take out of service if damaged
Use, cleaning, and maintenance only by professionals. Follow all safety instructions in the operating manual.
