The topic of 2K in the mixing room is central for automotive, industry and trade. Modern systems combine precise proportioners – whether pneumatic or electric – with efficient static or dynamic mixers, integrated material heating and recirculation systems for constant viscosity. Intelligent pot life management prevents unnecessary material losses, while mixing ratio control, batch traceability and rinsing strategies ensure precise, reproducible processing. All processes are documented in GLP-compliant reporting – supplemented by ATEX ventilation, Ex lighting and safe grounding/discharge.
2K systems are used for top coats, fillers, epoxy and PU coatings – in body and paint repair, at OEM/tier suppliers and in industrial coating. A correctly designed 2K system enables consistent mixing quality and increases process reliability. It reduces scrap and downtime, saves rinsing media and, via digital traceability, creates verifiable approvals and traceable results.
Planning begins with a detailed specification, creation of an accurate 3D layout and a coordinated media and safety concept. For metering and mixing, powerful 2K proportioners with static or dynamic mixers are used, supplemented by controlled temperature management and recirculation for constant material properties. The infrastructure includes ATEX-compliant ventilation and extraction, Ex-protected lighting, safe grounding and EKS systems as well as hazardous material cabinets (e.g. Type 90) for bases, hardeners and thinners. For furniture and containers, mixing benches, ergonomic work tables, well-designed container handling and clear labelling ensure order and safety in the work area. Documentation is handled digitally via labels and QR codes, PDF/CSV exports, stored serial numbers and users as well as automated limit checks. In addition, training and regular maintenance are provided to ensure safe long-term operation.
The complete system includes 2K proportioners, feed pumps, mixers, heating systems and hose bundles, precise filtration and regulation technology as well as extraction and ventilation components. These are complemented by Ex lighting, grounding and safety systems, hazardous material storage, ergonomic mixing benches and furniture and scales and flowmeters for process monitoring. All components are controlled via a central QC and formulation software and are integrated into existing QA workflows, report archives and audit processes. The scope of services also includes complete installation, commissioning and operator training in order to ensure a safe, efficient and well-documented start-up.

Core components are proportioners (pneumatic/electric), feed pumps, material filters, heaters/hose bundles, static or dynamic mixers, guns/nozzles, recirculation, rinsing and cleaning stations as well as scales and flowmeters for verification measurements. In addition: ATEX ventilation, Ex lighting, grounding/discharge and hazardous material storage (e.g. Type 90).
The mixing ratio is ensured by calibrated proportioners and verification measurements (mass/volume flow, reference weighing). Constant material temperature stabilises viscosity and spray pattern, while recirculation reduces fluctuations. Pot life management includes defined rinsing triggers (time, downtime, end of shift) and material-friendly rinsing media.
Documented are formula, target/actual ratio, material batches, temperatures/pressures, operator, release steps and rinsing processes. Evidence is provided as PDF/CSV with timestamp, serial numbers, labels/QR and limit checking. Calibration and maintenance plans (scales/proportioners/heating) ensure traceability.
