Compact porosity tester DC15 according to ISO 2746; 0-15 kV
The test is performed with a low-energy high DC voltage. The test voltage can be set continuously from 0 to 15 kV. The level of the test voltage to be set depends solely on the thickness of the coating to be tested. The coating thickness should therefore be measured before the test in order to avoid voltage damage. Each device is supplied with a table that can be used to determine the test voltage to be set for the various coating thicknesses. During the test, the test brush is slowly swept over the coating to be tested at a speed of approx. 30 cm/s. A defect is detected by sparks. A defect is indicated by a spark transition and also by an optical and acoustic signal. The sensitivity is adjustable. Different shaped test brushes are optionally available for optimised testing: Fan and flat brooms and round brooms for internal and external testing on pipes.

What is a porosity tester generally good for?

You can use a porosity tester to test surface coatings - to protect against
  • Corrosion from the outside and inside
  • Consequential damage due to minimal coating defects
  • Damage to highly sensitive foodstuffs
  • Dangerous chemical reactions
  • cost-intensive new coatings due to undetected defects
Compact porosity tester DC15 according to ISO 2746 can be used according to further standards: Australian Standard AS3894.1, ASTM G62, ASTM D5162, ASTM D4787, NACE RP0274, NACE SP0490, NACE SP0188, ANSI / AWWA C213, ANSI / AWWA C214, ISO 2746
